A metropolitan district (or metro district) is a special local government entity used to finance and manage infrastructure and services such as water, sewer, streets, and parks within a community. Metro districts allow developers to fund essential infrastructure by issuing bonds and levying taxes on properties within the district. Governed by a board, these districts provide a long-term solution for funding and maintaining public amenities, with ongoing costs typically covered by residents through property taxes or fees.
